Cutback Global Poverty OpportunityCelebrate the lives of thousands of hard working, but extremely poor, families by hosting a MicroCredit Enterprises Opportunity Party in your home or place of business. Funds raised go directly to the Permanent Fund to Alleviate Extreme Poverty (the Permanent Fund) and support microloans for hard-working, but extremely poor, micro entrepreneurs in developing countries worldwide.
“I can’t personally help a poor woman raise her crops, but I can help finance her new shovel and seeds."
Global poverty exists, in large part, because people are opportunity-deprived. People everywhere — and especially the poor — are willing to work hard and make sacrifices to better themselves, and they have the industry and the intelligence to do so. Across the globe parents are driven by a desire to see their kids escape hunger and go to school. You can give them the opportunity to help themselves; you have the opportunity to make an enormous difference in their lives.
“I can’t personally help a poor woman raise her crops, but I can help finance her new shovel and seeds. As a professional woman, I was gratified to open my home to other professionals to introduce them to the opportunity to join the microfinance movement,” acclaims Sandi McCubbin, a Governmental Relations Consultant in San Francisco, California.
Your Time - Well & Wisely UsedThanks to the Permanent Fund, good-hearted, practical people make efficient and effective use of their time and resources to make a potent and permanent difference in the fight against global poverty. You set the fundraising goal for your event, but consider the power of microfinance and the Permanent Fund to Alleviate Extreme Poverty: Raise a $1,000 and finance as many as 40 microloans in just the first year and 400 microloans over 10 years! If your Opportunity Party raises contributions totaling $5,000, you will fund up to 4,000 microloans over 10 years, and thousands more loans in the years that follow.
Not one dime of your donation pays for fundraising costs.
One hundred per cent (100%) of all donations to the Permanent Fund directly finances self-help microloans for desperately impoverished entrepreneurs, nearly all of them women with children. None of your contribution pays for our organizational overhead, administration, employee salaries or other operational expenses. Not one dime of your donation pays for fundraising costs.
The Permanent Fund works with strong local, nonprofit partners in each country to ensure your money is well-managed. As women repay their loans, the Permanent Fund recycles the money into new loans, and larger loans, empowering more and more women to become entrepreneurs. Donations are loaned out (on average) twice a year, every year, for decades into the future.
Call to Action Request our “Guidelines and Expectations for Opportunity Party Hosts” by contacting Paula von Husen, Donor Relations Liaison, and she will work with you to plan your event.
"One of the prime objectives for our Global Giving Circle is to educate ourselves and our larger community about issues affecting women worldwide. Hosting a fundraiser for MicroCredit Enterprises was the perfect way to accomplish this goal. It was an enjoyable event and we learned a lot about the good work done by MCE in addressing global poverty." - Brenda Ringwald, Founding Member, Arizona Global Giving Circle, Phoenix, Arizona.
Once you decide to host an event, MicroCredit Enterprises will send you a free Opportunity Party Host Kit. It includes everything you need to organize your fundraiser, including sample invitations, a DVD presentation, personal stories from women whose lives have been dramatically improved through microloans, and other materials to make your gathering a big success.
